Your Most Frequently Asked Questions about Showcase Lawn Care

At Showcase Lawnworks, we care about your questions and concerns. So we decided to produce this list of frequently asked questions to help our customers better understand us and what we do.

If these FAQs don’t answer your questions or concerns, please contact us through your customer portal or call us at Office Phone: 717-354-3226 or Toll Free: 800-503-3426.

  • Q: How long does it take for my lawn to look its best?

A:It depends on what conditions your yard faces at the time of our arrival. Weeds can be removed quite easily while repairs to dead patches can take a bit longer.

  • Q: What do I do after my first fertilization application?

A:At Showcase we apply a slow release fertilizer, meaning that the nutrients will be released slowly over a period of six weeks or so. If the forecast is dry in your area, you’ll need to water your lawn yourself.

  • Q: When can you spray my weeds?

A:We only apply weed control when weeds are present or after they’ve germinated. Our broadleaf weed control won’t control nuisance grasses, such as orchard, barnyard, Bermuda, or nutsedge.

  • Q: Do you check my shrubs and trees?

A:When we visit your property for lawn treatments we’ll also inspect your trees and shrubs for insects and diseases. This service is free of charge.

  • Q: Will you keep me up-to-date on problems that I should look for on my lawn?

A:Visit our website once a month to see what current problems your areas are facing. We post tips about fungi, diseases, insects and other lawn problems that crop up throughout the season.

  • Q: How high should I cut my lawn?

A:We recommend that you mow your lawn at a minimum of 3″. During dry spells, heatwaves and droughts, cut your lawn at 4″ to keep it from burning out. This will also help your lawn stay healthy during a hot, dry period.

  • Q: When should I water my lawn?

A:We recommend watering your lawn before the hottest part of the day, so between 4 a.m. and 9 a.m. to reduce evaporation.

  • When should my lawn be aerated?

A:We start taking core aeration appointments in late August through early October. If you have light patches in your lawn, we can also overseed that area when we aerate. Check with our office for pricing.

  • Q: What are your billing terms?

A:We ask that you pay your bill within 15 days of the invoice date. We make paying your lawn care bill easy. Just go to our website to set up your auto-pay account. If we don’t receive your payment within 90 days, we’ll submit your unpaid invoices to collections.

  • Q: Will my lawn care services automatically renew each year?<

A:Yes, your services will automatically renew each year unless you call us. You can also email us through your online account.

  • Q: When do you send pre-payment information and discounts for early payment?

A:We begin to send our first wave of discounts in November.

  • Q: Can I see my service history?

A:Yes, you can see your service history through your online account or by calling the Office Phone: 717-354-3226 or Toll Free: 800-503-3426.

  • Q: What is grub control and what do I need to know about your grub control services?

A:We apply grub control at the same time as our round 3 application. Our third round takes place in June and July. This is an add-on service and not part of the lawn care program.

  • Q: Why would I need a lime application?

A:Pennsylvania soil is commonly too acidic for a healthy lawn. After we perform a soil test we will apply lime to the soil one time per year to bring pH balances back to the optimal range. This is also an add-on service.

  • Q: What happens if my lawn has a problem with one of your applications?

A:Please let us know right away if your lawn is having a reaction to the application. The longer you wait, the harder it is to correct the problem. You can call our office immediately at 717-354-3226.

  • Q: Do you make any service calls?

A:Yes. All service calls are free when you sign up for our five or more lawn care applications program. If you don’t notice any wilting or yellowing of weeds within 10-14 days, email us through your online portal or call us at Office Phone: 717-354-3226 or Toll Free: 800-503-3426 to set up your service call.

  • Do you have a referral program?

A:We offer a $50 credit to your account for each customer you refer. Your account will receive the $50 credit when the referred customer signs up, completes, and pays for their Full Lawn Treatment Program.

  • Q: Will you contact me ahead of time before you visit my property?

A:We call ahead or send out reminder emails the day before your service, upon request.

  • Q: Do I need to let you know if I have an underground dog fence or an irrigation system?

A:Yes, please. Also, make sure you remove all children’s outside toys and anything else on the lawn. If you have a dog, please keep it locked up.

  • Q: How do I know what you’re putting down on my lawn?

A:Look at the invoice that you receive after we applied a treatment. It will have the name and ingredients used in that treatment. Also, you can ask your technician for MSDS sheets and product labels for all of the products we use on your lawn.

  • Q: Are your lawn care products safe?

p>A:At Showcase Lawn works, we use organic-based granular products for all of our lawn services—except for our weed control which is liquid-based. You, your children, and your pets can go back on your lawn right after we apply the granular products.

For our liquid applications, it’s safe to go back on your lawn when it’s dry. Depending on the service, you may need to stay off your lawn for up to two hours. Check your service notification sheet that your technician will leave behind after he’s finished working on your lawn. That notification sheet will have instructions for how long you need to stay off of your lawn as well as when the application was applied to your lawn.
