Tree and Shrub Care Done Right

Showcase LawnWorks understands that your trees, shrubs, and hedges are long-term investments in your landscape. These plantings are chosen with the expectation that they will enhance your property for decades—even generations. Trees and shrubs require specialized care and face unique challenges such as pests, drought, stress, and disease. Our job is to protect those investments so you can enjoy a healthy, thriving landscape for years to come.

Strategically placed trees and shrubs can help keep your home up to 10 degrees cooler. Proper planning not only boosts curb appeal but also improves comfort and energy efficiency.

Showcase’s innovative 6-step tree and shrub care program is designed to strengthen plant health and improve resistance to disease and fungi. When you partner with Showcase, a trained technician visits your property every 4–6 weeks to ensure consistent care and optimal results. Our program starts in the spring with a granular fertilizer designed to wake up your trees, shrubs, and groundcovers by delivering essential nutrients. On our final visit of the season, we apply a winter fertilizer to help your plants prepare for the colder months while setting them up for a strong start in the spring.

Pruning is one of the most important—and most commonly done incorrectly—aspects of tree and shrub care. Poor cuts can invite disease, disrupt growth, and eliminate seasonal blooms. For most plants, late winter to early spring is the best time to prune, when they are dormant and better able to recover.

Removing dead, damaged, or diseased branches is a first step when pruning. Eliminating limbs that are crossing, rubbing, or growing too close to structures is beneficial for the health of the plant. The goal is to improve configuration and airflow—not over-trim.

Left unmanaged, overgrowth leads to weak branches, increased pests and disease, and potential hazards. With proper, consistent care, your trees and shrubs will live longer, look better, and cost less to maintain over time.
